Critically burned at the age of 8, the early days would be difficult. Throughout his childhood, Mike dealt with the typical challenges of adolescence, but for him these were drastically amplified because of how he looked. What so many did not know, and he did not want anyone to know, was how alone he often felt. "You always feel isolated in your trials, in my case I didn't know or see anyone that looked like me. I never thought anyone could understand what my life was like".
Mike would constantly wonder why he had to go through this, why God allowed this to happen, why he had to be different from everyone else. He questioned the purpose of his life, did God even care...
"When you're facing something that is not going to go away, circumstances that are never going to change, you are forced to find answers to these questions. Or stop asking".
Throughout his life Mike has been Speaking, Teaching, and Encouraging people to reach for more, too move beyond being a victim. "Just because you're a victim, it doesn't mean you have to live or think like one". His unique platform and speaking ability, along with a lifetime of experience, allows Mike to connect with his audience, young and old alike.
The ability to overcome belongs to everyone, if you're willing to learn how to use it.

He had to first fight to physically stay alive, but that was nothing compared to the fight he would need to wage to stay emotionally alive.
